For some reason

boys just need to jump off furniture.
Josh is jumping off the couch and dad is throwing the ball for him to catch. I'm really surprised we haven't had any broken bones yet.

We are back in full swing of school. Michael made it through the first full week of third grade homework without any problems. He will be playing baseball this fall and we are going to AWANAS on wed. nights at church. Josh also has an AWANAS class in which he has to memorize bible verses and recite to the leader. Even though the verses are shortened, I'm a little nervous about how he will do this. Have you ever tried to get a 3 yr old to memorize something and repeat it?
Michael has verses to memorize also, he has 6 verses to memorize by Wed. Yikes! We need to get busy!

I am giving up on the alphabet theme

because it's getting harder to come up with post that are remotely interesting! Several other blogs that I read are doing the alphabet theme and I thought I would try. On another note, Josh is sick with a stomach bug. He couldn't keep anything down yesterday but has had a tiny bit of food today with no vomiting! Sweet little guy is caring around his "puk bucket" today just in case he has to throw up again. :o{

H is for...Hot, Hot, Hot!

It has been so unbelievably hot! I almost miss Pennsylvania summers! Thankfully today it has been raining and cool (like 85 is not so cool, but it feels cool compared to 105)

G is for ....garage sale

I know this is such interesting stuff that ya'll just can't stop reading, but seriously I had a garage sale this weekend after I read the neighbors ad in the paper and it was awesome! I made $65, I had hoped for $20.

F is for ....Flyin'

just give these boys a few pillows, stuffed animals, etc. and they will be jumping into the pile. I thought this picture was great because I caught them both in mid air in the same position!

E is for .....excitement!

and there was alot of that happening at this house this morning! Today is the first day of school. Yesterday we went to check out the classroom and meet the teacher. Michael was very excited to see some of his friends! This morning he bounded out of bed at 7 am, got dressed completely(even socks and shoes) and jumped around the house asking "is it time to go yet" for the next hour and half. Too much excitement!
We're looking forward to a great school year!

D is for.....Daddy

And this is my dad. As you can see he is getting properly attired to do some wasp killing! Don't you know that blue vintage aprons around your head is the wasp killing fashion? For real he didn't want to get stung on the face or neck. Seriously, we had a nest of wasp just outside the back door and unfortunately we did not realize it until Josh was standing at the back door and got stung. Thankfully, grandma was right there with him because there was a huge swarm of wasp and she yanked Josh inside fast enough that only one wasp got him. Michael ran faster than the wasp could fly and escaped unharmed. Last summer he got stung about four times.
As a little girl, I thought my dad could do anything, if it was broke Daddy could fix it and if I wanted something chances are I probably got it. Now Michael has grown to have the same affection for his papa. After the wasp incident he told grandma that papa had to come kill the wasp nest because he was so brave and strong and didn't even cry when he cut or burned his arm (casualties of working in a junk pile). So papa came today armed with a can of wasp spray and a blue apron and dutifully killed the wasp. Thanks, papa!

C is for....Clothes

Trying to shop with two boys who would rather be at the candy store is difficult! Running around the racks, constant begging to go to the candy store, hitting each other, falling all over the floor and that was just in one store. We did manage to get one outfit for Josh and Michael picked a shirt with no luck finding jeans. Maybe next time, as hot as it is now we'll all be wearing shorts till October.

OH MY GOSH!!!!

We or rather Josh has made pee-pee in the potty!!!! You don't know how happy this has made me. He has sat upon the potty numerous times but each time he never actually peed. But he surprised himself a few nights ago and came running out of the bathroom "I peed, I peed"! You should have seen the high fives going round the house! He actually went back several times that night to see if he could do it again. :0) Now Josh has the idea, we are just working on the routine and it won't be long until we are diaper free! Woo Hoo!!!!!

Sunday, August 5

Josh currently has a pretend friend, well a pretend pet. You will never guess what kind of pet this is either. I'll give you a hint, he's green, can be sweet or sour....do you give up? Yes, it's a pet pickle! He's so enthusiastically showing me where pet pickle is in this picture.
Pet pickle shows up in some of the oddest times, like while walking into church this morning. Just a little while ago pet pickle called Josh on the phone to let him know he was on his way home. I don't even know how it started I just remember him talking to his pet pickle. Now we all play along occasionally asking "Hey Josh, where's your pet pickle?" Makes life more interesting.

B is for.....Boys

and the bizarre activites they find absolutely amazing! For instance, this spider web is being perfected and enjoyed in my living room right this minute. *It's also being closely supervised, no child was or will be injured during such activities* Who knew a ball of string could bring so much entertainment!

A is for.....Apple

I can't believe that school starts in just 11 short days! I also can't believe that Michael will be in third grade. I've had people tell me 3rd grade is a challenging and transitioning year. I'm not sure what they mean by that but we will soon find out. Reading and homework have always come easy to Mike and his biggest struggle academically is handwriting.
The director of the childrens dept at church is also a third grade teacher at Michael's school, he is really hoping he gets to be in her class. Other than that we are looking forward to a great school year!
