Not much going on

Not much is going on in the Miller house. It is snowing right now, the prediction is only 1 to 3 inches. I can handle the snow, but the cold is unbearable. I am really feeling the end of winter blah's.
Michael stayed home from school yesterday. He came home from school monday with a headache and took a two hour nap after school. I knew he wasn't feeling well, he hasn't taken a nap in a few years. He threw up later that evening, but seemed to feel better yesterday. I sent him to school today and hopefully he will stay the whole day.
Michael is also going to the eye doctor next week. He didn't pass the vision screening at school, so the appointment is very necessary. The school nurse even called yesterday to see if I had followed up with an appointment. Poor guy, I got my glasses in the 5th grade, he's only in the second grade.
At the moment, Josh is being superman. He is very particular about his superman "stuff"(various toys and items w/superman on them). Everything superman has to be in one basket together. Doesn't matter if everything else in his room is scattered around, superman has to be in a basket. He also picked out superman valentines to pass around.
That's about all for now. I'm tryin' to keep warm!

"He's my friend"

Aunt Stephie enjoying the sled!

We finally found a couple of sleds at wal-mart and the kids have been sledding on what's left of the snow/ice. Aunt Stephie had to get in on the action this weekend.

All snuggled in bed with visions of PB & J's dancing in his head??!?!

Since we put a tv and dvd player in Michaels room, Josh has been taking his turn watching movies in michaels room (usually when he's at school). This day in particular I was very clear I didn't want Josh to take a nap because he did the two previous days and stayed up very late those nights. I delivered his PB & J to him and came back to check a few minutes later and he was out! Guess he didn't get my message about no naps!

Lazy summer days

The snow plow people heard me....

and plowed our little street today! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! They must have heard me ranting (to myself and outloud even though nobody was listening). I wanted to run out and give the driver a bug hug, but I thought that might be a little too much.

Dreaming of Spring

What's a person to do when the ice/sleet/snow is still covering the ground for the upteenth day in a row? Dream of spring, of course.

Today was the first day back to school for Michael but unfortunately the city doesn't plow side streets and our street is a unbearable mess. And in my little car it just doesn't make it. We got stuck in the middle of the street last night just trying to see if it would get out. Barry drives the big green car to work, and at this point he really needs to get to work. So maybe tomorrow enough of it will be gone that I can drive him to school. In order to ride the bus, we would have to walk about a block or more to the bus stop in this mess.

So we spent some time outside this morning playing kickball and sittin' at the picnic table having ice pizza for lunch.

Protective head gear for playing golf in the house?

Satisfaction

One of my goals for the new year is to actually complete some craft projects. I am really good at gathering ideas of cool crafts to make and even going out and buying supplies to complete the really cool crafts. But somehow those ideas never get done. Not this year! and here is two of the lounge pants that I have completed so far this year. (Josh's pants still need to be hemmed) actually I did them both in the last two days. I've had lots of time since being stuck inside. My next project is to make a tote bag/purse, but I'm not sure how it will turn out since I don't have a pattern. P.S. Michaels feet just look so funny! They look huge!

I need spring, I need spring, I need spring....

I really need spring to come very soon. Being stuck inside for 6 days is starting to get to all of us. Josh is pretending to be a dog way too much, he now throws any snacks on the floor and proclaims "I eat my dog food". Michael runs from room to room just to count how many steps he is taking with a pedometer, that wouldn't be so bad if he wouldn't growl as loud as he can while doing so. Barry is constantly working on different ways to thaw the ice, for example he's thought of putting out a portable heater with extension cord, hair dryer or electric blanket- but hasn't tried any for fear of being electrocuted. The dog doesn't find relief in peeing out on the cold ice so he hold it until he comes back inside. Me, well I have probably ate the weight of a toddler in cookies, listened to video games all day long, and watched the same movies over and over again(we don't have cable yet) I joined that blockbuster online thing just to get some new movies in the mail. I. NEED. SPRING.

We suffered an injury today...

Michael came crying into the house, holding his nose. Looks like he fell while sliding around outside and suffered a bloody nose and lip. With an extra day off from school (Tues) I think he will survive.

Happy Birthday!

A very cold Happy birthday to Barry! We'll celebrate another day when it's warmer. Do you see the mirror in the background? The sun is finally shining after three or four days and he is taking advantage of it to melt the sleet/ice. He just came through the kitchen with the heating pad and asking if I had any rocks???!?!? I better go see what he is up to now.

It's a skating rink around here!

This is what we're up to around here. The sleet has frozen solid and it's like a skating rink. The kids have fallen down more than they are standing, but insist that it's fuunn! I ventured out only to take a few pictures.

A view from my front door

Driveway, road and all covered in sleet-no snow- just little pellets of freezing ice all over the place. It's coming down again, but is suppose to be done by this evening. The only problem is that it's not going to warm up past freezing temp's until Thursday, so all this sleet is going no where.
Yuck! If I didn't have a garage full of boxes to unpack, I would be going crazy by now!

Snug as a bug

That's what we are in our little house on rockwood ave. The ice storm has begun-freezing rain, below freezing temps, sleet, yucky, yucky, yucky weather. Hard to believe just 24 hrs ago it was 70 degrees. But we are stocked up on food, heat and prepared to spend the weekend snug as a bug at home. This is suppose to last till Tuesday. Keep your fingers crossed that the power doesn't go out. More later.....

Can you see Michaels face as he hides behind the chair?

Michael is somewhat afraid of fireworks and loud noises, much like I was as a kid. This was a simple confetti popper but I guess not knowing what was happening he dove behind the chair and screamed like a girl.

My little wuperman is now three!

Sunday, January 7

We finally made it....

we are here in Oklahoma and starting to unpack. Barry arrived yesterday afternoon with the "big yellow truck" full of our belongings. Josh was so excited that he ran around telling everyone "That's my daddy, that's my daddy". As I type, we have a garage packed full of boxes and more boxes sitting on the driveway that don't fit into the garage. Everyone seems to be adjusting well, Michael is very excited to go to school, even though the math is soooooooooo hard here (what he says). Josh keeps talking about everything with the word new such as our new walmart, or our new house, his new bedroom, our new grocery store, our new kitchen. He only asked to go home once or twice the first night.
I'll get some pictures up soon. It's good to be back.
