Trick or treating was so much fun!

Trick or treating was so fun tonight! Josh really enjoyed getting candy. After leaving every house he would come running, "mom, I got more candy!" We met Michael's friend Kyle and walked around with him and his mom. We walked a long way, and Josh tired out toward the end. He actually fell asleep in the stoller before we got home. Poor thing didn't even get to eat some of his candy before bed!
Happy Birthday Uncle William! Hope you have a Spooktacular day!

Friday night plans

Let me start by saying Barry is out playing poker, it's cold and raining so this is what we are doing tonight. We have pulled mattress's into the living room and we are having a camp out. So far there has been lots of wrestling, pillow fights, and laughing.
I can remember some nights growing up on the farm, we would put mattress's outside in the truck bed because it was to hot to sleep inside the house.
We are also watching The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, another great memory I have growing up, I always looked forward to watching the special.

Hope ya'll had a great weekend making family memories!

Darth Vadar and mini darth?

Just thought this was cute!

Darth Vader and the Knight

Michael had a halloween party for cub scouts on Monday night. The funny thing is when we got to the party there were 4 other Darth Vaders already. And there are only about 15 boys in scouts!

Build a Bear!

Michael got a coupon in the mail for a free bear at build a bear because of his birthday. Needless to say we had to go, and we came out of there with a lot more than just a free bear. Josh got a dog with a Phillies uniform, baseball glove, bat, and ball. Michael got a bear with Phillies shirt, jeans, sneakers, and skateboard.

Warning: Gross and disqusting picture ahead!!!!!

Okay, awhile (I'm not saying how long) back we lost a gold fish. He just disappeared from the water, and we assumed that the bigger, fatter fish had ate him.
I looked around the tank, because I had heard that fish can jump out of the water, but I didn't find a fish. Today (I'm a little embarrassed to say) I looked behind the couch and saw this.....

We found the missing fish! Eeeewwwwww! Yuck! Josh then had to tell his speech therapist all about the fish, and how mommy took picture of the dead fish.

Cub scouts

We just got back from touring the state police office in Ephrata. As you can see the boys really enjoyed testing some of the equipment. They saw handcuffs, leg cuffs, shields, bullet proof shields, helmets, night sticks, and gas masks just to mention a few. They also got to sit in the state trooper car. What fun!!

Fall

It's a beautiful fall day here. I've got a lot to do this week, but I decided to forget about all that and take Josh to the park to enjoy the afternoon. Time passes so fast and I know that it won't be long until we are stuck inside the house begging for spring to come.

This week we have a scout field trip tonight, MOPS tomorrow, speech on Wed, and Michaels birthday party on Friday night, and I work 8 hours on Sat. Barry isn't much help because he has a mid-term exam in class Thurday night and must study because it is a big percentage of his grade. Anyway, it will all come together.

Friday night we are having about 8 boys for dinner and a sleep over. I think I must be crazy, every year I say I'm not having a huge birthday party for Michael, but yet it turns into one every year. I'm a sucker for parties! Oh well!

He read himself to sleep

This is how I found Josh tonight. I had gone into the kitchen to get some noodles out of the microwave and he had just laid down on the floor, I come back and he was sound asleep!

I have to brag a little on Michael. He has a spelling test every Friday with about 13 regular words plus 2 bonus words. Every test so far this year he has made 102% with the exception of one test he made 101% (he spelled "were" and the word was "where"). He is an awesome speller and reader! He spells with such ease that I decided to do an Internet search for third grade spelling words and challenge him. He breezed through most of those words without a problem!

My little clown!

My kids love to dress up for halloween, and really any day they can wear a costume. My mom also loves halloween, I remember many school parties and other functions where she dressed in costume. Just a few years ago she dressed as a clown for Steph's birthday! So yesterday we got a package in the mail full of costumes. Needless to say that was the highlight of our day. Here is just one of the many costumes!

Yep, that's me..

in 1989 or 90? And that's my best friend from high school, Esther. The reason I post this is because even though I hadn't been in touch with Esther for a very long time, more than 12 years, we recently got back in touch with each other via Classmates.com. I still can't believe it! I joined classmates to get back in touch with some friends from college and never really expected to hear from people in high school. Especially the private christian boarding school we attended, the entire student body totaled maybe 65 to 70 students. I think I had 16 classmates? Wow!
Esther was my best friend in school. She was probably the reason I stayed at school my junior year. I really wanted to go back home and go to public school. I had a really hard time with roommates that year. I shared a room with a Japanese girl who knew very little english, another freshman who stole things from me and wet the bed, and another girl who had really bad b.o. Esther was always willing to listen to my roommate problems. Thank you so much!
So I just want to thank her for being such a great friend. I have lots of great memories with her as my friend and I am so thankful that God has brought her back into my life.
(I hope I didn't embarrass you with the picture, Esther. I have lots of others but thought this one showed us the best!)

My little helper

Josh has a very helpful side when he likes to show it. In the picture he is helping me chop lettuce for dinner the other night. He loves to go to work and help Barry replace the toilet paper in the bathroom. He even helps his big brother Michael. Michael often comes out of school with his shoes untied, so the other day while walking on the sidewalk, Josh made Michael stop and then he proceeded to bend down and "tie" Michaels shoes. Very sweet!
On another note, I'm sorry for the lack of pictures. My batteries died in my camera and everytime I go to Wal-mart that seems to be the one thing I forget to pick up. Oh Well!

Future pitcher?

This boy is seriously obsessed about baseball. He talks about it, plays it, and I think he even dreams about it. I've heard him talking in his sleep some nights. Yesterday afternoon he kept Jesse's mom busy in the backyard playing baseball. She said everytime she missed the ball he would say "Come on, hit it". I played with him for awhile but he ditched me to play with her.

I'm going to love'em a little more today

After yesterday's Amish school shooting here in Lancaster county, It has left us all in sadness and disbelief that something like that could ever happen here.
I'm going to hold onto my boys a little more today. I'm going to listen to the arguing and fighting and be glad, just be glad that my children are with me. I'm going to hug them a little longer and be thankful. I'm going to hold tight to God and know that He is watching out for my guys.
